Locational Astrology

December 14, 2025

My husband invited me on a trip with his family to Mexico City. While it wasn’t my top choice of location, I was open to the experience, as the city sits on two of my significant astrocartography lines: the Uranus Descendant (DC) and Saturn Imum Coeli (IC) lines.

What is Astrocartography?

Astrocartography, also known as locational astrology, is the practice of mapping your unique birth chart onto a world map. This reveals how different locations might affect you in either positive or challenging ways, providing insight into which places might be best for living, working, or visiting.

The Lines: Uranus DC and Saturn IC

Mexico City is situated within 150 miles of both my Uranus Descendant line and my Saturn Imum Coeli line. This proximity means the planetary energy is intense and strong.

  • Uranus Descendant (DC) Line: Uranus energy brings change, innovation, and a strong need for independence and freedom. The DC line relates to relationships, partnerships, and how others perceive you. This placement can be great for those craving non-traditional relationships or seeking change in partnerships, often leading to exciting encounters with extraordinary, inspiring, and authentic people.
  • Saturn Imum Coeli (IC) Line: Saturn represents discipline, structure, responsibility, and tough lessons. The IC line governs home, family, emotional roots, and inner foundation. A Saturn IC line can bring challenges related to family obligations, home maintenance or renovation, or feelings of being stuck, serious, and isolated within the home environment. It is clearly not an easy place to live long-term.

My Experience: Navigating the Energies

I traveled during a Mercury retrograde—something I wouldn’t recommend—which was accompanied by a US government shutdown affecting flights across the country. Luckily, we experienced no delays or cancellations. While there were some frustrations at my hotel in the La Condesa neighborhood, overall, I felt surprisingly at home and enjoyed the trip to Mexico City.

Aztec Pyramids of Teotihuacan

We embarked on a private tour of the Teotihuacan Pyramids with a remarkable guide named Angela, a local expert with a beautiful soul. She shared her extensive knowledge of the ancient city’s history and, astonishingly, knew and regularly fed the many stray dogs that roam the area. It was fascinating to learn from her that Mexico City is one of the world’s largest, home to an estimated 29 million people.

The Uranus DC Encounters

The Uranus DC line energy brought several interesting, unexpected encounters centered around relationships and siblings:

  • I met a woman from London at a restaurant who was celebrating her 40th birthday with her two sisters.
  • A man from New Jersey gifted us tickets to Chapultepec, as they were free for people over 60 and he was traveling with his three siblings.

It was interesting that the people we encountered were all traveling with their siblings, mirroring my husband’s trip with his brother.

To manage the overall overstimulating energy of the city, I even shocked everyone by venturing out alone for a long 6 am walk in La Condesa, grounding myself among the many locals walking their dogs, exercising, and commuting.

The Saturn IC Challenges

The Saturn IC line energy manifested through hotel (my temporary “home”) frustrations. On the very first night, a live band played until 2 am, making sleep impossible. The next day, our room safe, which held all our valuables and passports, became stuck. Multiple personnel couldn’t fix it. The problem was eventually solved the next day with a loud drill to break the safe open and install a new one—the only major challenge during the five-day stay.

Practical Tips for Astrocartography Travelers

Here are a few tips for anyone traveling to Mexico City:

  • Cash is King for Restrooms: There are no free public bathrooms in many areas, so keep 5-10 pesos on hand.
  • Transportation: Uber was a convenient and reliable way to get around the city.
  • Plan Ahead for Popular Sites: Tickets for popular attractions, like the Frida Kahlo Museum also known as La Casa Azul (the blue house), sell out weeks in advance. My father-in-law generously gifted me his ticket so I could visit and I am so grateful.

Mexico City is an exciting place to visit. I wouldn’t choose to live permanently on a challenging Saturn IC line for a home base, nor am I interested in my Uranus DC line’s relationship influence in the long term. However, with my relocated Cancer in the fourth house of home in Mexico City, I felt a genuine sense of comfort and enjoyed the super friendly locals, making the challenging lines a manageable, enriching experience.
