What is
Astrocartography /Relocation Astrology
Astrocartography also known as Locational Astrology, is a tool that reveals how a change in location could affect your life. It is the modern way of moving or relocating where you can pick a new city or country based on how well its unique energy aligns with your astrological chart. Created by astrologer Jim Lewis in the 1970s, astrocartography is the practice of mapping your unique birth chart onto a world map. This technique reveals planetary lines that indicate how the energies of specific locations can influence varies aspects of your life, from career and relationships to personal growth.
Key Aspects of Locational Astrology

In astrocartography, there are 44 longitudinal planetary lines going across the world representing a map of your birth chart on four key angles. These angles, which help define the lines, represent different areas of your life:
ASC (Ascendant): Your sense of self, identity, and how others see you.
IC (Imum Coeli): Your home, family, life, roots, and foundation
DC (Descendant): Your relationships, partnerships, and interactions with others
MC (Midheaven): Your career, public reputation, and worldly ambitions
Each planetary line represents the type of energy at the location for each planet which includes the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, along with North and South Node, and Chiron. The type of energy (planet) combines with the area of life activated (angle).
For instance, a "Sun MC line" crossing a certain location could indicate a place where you would experience an increase in vitality, confidence, and leadership (Sun), particularly in your career and public life (MC).
Parans
Parans or Parantellontae are where two planetary lines cross forming latitude lines on an astrocartography map. They can have a dramatic effect on how you feel in a location especially if there are no planetary lines. Parans can help determine where to live in a country.
For example, you want to move to your Jupiter line in Spain but your Venus -Saturn paran goes right through Burgos where you may face rejection or disappointments in relationships. Choosing a city farther away from your Venus-Saturn paran like Madrid would be more favorable.
